AVP, Electronic Banking Manager, Chico
What parts of Tri Counties Bank’s mission do you connect with the most?
All of our mission statement resonates with me, as I am a shareholder, customer, employee, and a resident of one of the communities we serve. I think what we do for our communities is the most important, as the financial success of all the others will follow if we promote the well-being of our communities.
Tell us about your current role.
I am currently the Electronic Banking Manager for Tri Counties Bank. The Electronic Banking Center includes Wire Transfer Operations and ACH Operations. My team facilitates the inbound and outbound traffic and posting of all Wire transfers and ACH entries.
What advice about career growth would you give a fellow employee?
I always refer to my own steps to career success, but particularly if someone is interested in getting into a leadership role, I remind them that it's all about the people. The best way to prove you deserve a leadership role is effectively working with teammates, earning their respect, and making them better at what they do. After earning a leadership role, that doesn't really change. Recruiting and retaining talent on your team all goes back to supporting the growth of your team members, which will translate to performance.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be, and what would you ask them?
Perhaps not historical in the traditional sense, but I would like to have dinner with Bill Russell, arguably the greatest winner basketball (or sports) has ever seen. He focused on leadership with humility, and nuances of the game that other players rarely even considered. I would ask him about his solidarity, being an iconic Black figure in a time that was extremely prejudiced, how he maintained his composure, his focus on his goals, and how he motivated himself in the face of a constant headwind.
